The Original Pancake House

Quick history: Apparently, The Original Pancake House started in Portland, Oregon in 1953. I thoroughly read their About Us page on their website, and did some other digging in other places around Google, and am unsure how that led them to open another restaurant in the Peoria area around Grand Prairie in 2019. This does not seem to be a chain from what I've seen. Thus, this is a mystery that will have to go unsolved. Anyway, this is a local breakfast restaurant that opens 7am-2pm daily and is known for their sweet pancakes and rich coffee.

My personal experience: Personally, I've always considered breakfast to be an older person's hobby. Not that breakfast food itself can only be enjoyed by older people, but more of the experience of waking up early enough in the morning and wanting to eat a balanced meal and sit down and have a cup of coffee while doing something productive seems to be only something that can be done when you're mature enough to have your life together. I don't know a single person my age who does this. That being said, I don't care for the food itself either. Eggs seems like one of those foods that nobody truly likes, but nobody hates either, and everybody just eats it because its the easiest thing to make and customize and to get nutrients like protein into your meal. Most of the meals I would end up ordering from a place like this end up being some sort of egg scramble with hashbrowns, (which is probably the only breakfast food I think absolutely positively about) onions, peppers, and sausage, and the problem is I feel like a plethora of places like this tend to end up tasting the same. If you've ever gone to a Waffle House, which exist pretty much everywhere not in Peoria County, they have an egg scramble that doesn't taste much different from this one and I'm sure it's much cheaper. They do have pretty good pancakes, their Apple Pie one that they take pride in is pretty good, but like I said there are a lot of places that have really good pancakes. I would go here if you're looking for decent breakfast food, but if you're like me and you'd rather spend it on better lunch or dinner, try some of my other local reviews instead!
