Good Tequila's Mexican Grill

Quick History: Good Tequila's has been a staple in the local Peoria area since it opened in 1998 and has been going strong for as long as I can remember. It serves authentic Mexican food and fresh ingredients with a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating. 

My experience: I don't have a single negative thing to say about this restaurant. The food is great, I personally always get the fajita quesadilla (basically a quesadilla with a bunch a veggies added in) so I guess I can't necessarily vouch for the rest of it. The chips and salsa are hard to dislike, and something that is unbeatable at not just this restaurant, but from my experience, Mexican restaurants in general, is that the service is always super fast. Our food is always out within 15 minutes. Usually, the food tastes fresh as well so I don't think this has anything to do with it being frozen either. The prices are in the mid range but the portions are usually pretty large so I can't complain too much about that. Generally, the service is friendly but for most of the waiters (especially from the male ones, from what I've observed) there is a language barrier, so don't mistake that for coldness. Definitely eat here if you haven't tried, I have probably been here over 15 times in my lifetime (I've lived here all my life) and can't remember having a bad experience!

    Totally agree, Good Tequila’s never misses! The fajita quesadilla sounds so good, and the fast service makes it perfect for a quick dinner. I’ve been a few times too and it’s always solid!

LaGondola Spaghetti House

Quick history: LaGondola Spaghetti House has been around since 1982, and has been an Italian staple in local eats in central Illinois. They are known for their sandwiches (shown above) known as Torpedos, their pasta, and bread. My personal experience: This is one of my favorite places to eat in town and the town over. First of all, the people who work at my closest location (Peoria) are nice and friendly. In the "about us" section on their website, they say that they value customer service and I definitely see this to be true. Their sandwiches, bread, and pasta are really delicious. You can buy the pasta sauce by the ladle, which I buy regularly to make pasta at home. That is what they are known for, but in my opinion, the most underrated item from this restaurant is their pizza. They have Sicilian (deep pan) and Neopolitan (thin crust) pizza. Introduction

     In this blog I will be exploring my journey as a local Peoria citizen putting a spotlight on all of the local places I know in town while giving you my overall thoughts. It is important in our family to support local businesses if we plan on eating out or getting any fancy drinks or snacks. I have seen some of the best places in the area go out of business because of lack of support from the community, so maybe this will encourage one or two or maybe even three people to give these places a try.
